Guarding the sanctity of Islam

A British Muslim who has many family contacts in the Yemen reports that most of the remaining Guantanamo Bay Prison Camp inmates are Yemeni. These families have reported to him that the Prison Camp guards have used forced-feeding this past Ramadhan by inserting tubes into the inmates’ stomachs, to destroy their fast. What happened to Obama’s promise to close this facility? We have proof here that even Obama cannot stand against the deadly enemies of Islam, whatever he says or does otherwise.

Wishing All Muslims a Blessed Eid ul-Fitr 1434H

To all our family members, relatives and friends – we wish you a Blessed Eid marked by faith, prosperity and joy. Eid ul-Fitr, the Festival of Fast-breaking marks the conclusion of the month of fasting. (Fitr, which denotes “to break” therefore marks the breaking of the fasting period and of all bad and evil habits). Eid is a time for renewed friendship and goodwill, a time for sincere forgiveness and making amends and a time of moderate celebration where children, communities and families come together and have a good time.Continue reading “Wishing All Muslims a Blessed Eid ul-Fitr 1434H”

“They are the best of us” – Commemorating the Battle of Badr

The following is from a mailing list I belong to. Please benefit and share widely.

On the 17th Ramaān we commemorate the Battle of Badr, which took place on that day in the second year of the Hijrah. It is one of the most important events in the history of the Ummah, and Allāh describes it as the Day of Discrimination.  Sayyidī al-abīb `Umar bin Hafī (may Allāh preserve him and benefit us by him) places great emphasis on commemorating it and marks the event by completing the Qur’ān in Tarawī on the eve of the 17th, after which there are big celebrations in Dār al-Muṣṭafā attended by thousands. The rest of the night is spent in prayer, remembrance and supplication, since prayers are answered when the Qur’ān is completed.Continue reading ““They are the best of us” – Commemorating the Battle of Badr”

Have a blessed Ramadhan

I am certain it is clear from my posts the past few weeks, but I have not been writing much, and have not felt an inspiration to do it either. At my law firm, I have put in hard work in keeping up with challenging and demanding times. I am sure that has hindered my drive to write. I know I will come back to this site sooner or later and write again about the issues close to my heart, but now I think it is best to put it out there that I am taking a break.

Child conversion law only affirms status quo, Muslim NGOs say

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 – The unilateral conversion of minors to Islam has already been the “status quo” in Malaysian courtrooms, several Muslim groups alleged today, throwing a spanner in the works for Putrajaya as it struggles over the barrage of criticisms against its newly proposed law. Pembela – a coalition of around 20 Muslim NGOs – today fended off critics’ allegations that Section 107 (b) of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (Federal Territories) Bill 2013 is unconstitutional and had gone against a 2009 Cabinet decision. Pembela chairman Dr Yusri Mohamad said the dispensation with the need for consent from both parents on minors’ conversion has both been recognised by the Federal Court and been practised in the country.
