The most beautiful prayer by Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)

This is from a mailing list I belong to:

As was the custom with the tribes of Arabia prior to Islam, people’s allegiances were to tribes under whose protection one was, which meant other tribes, particularly less influential ones, would avoid entering into a feud with anyone from a more noble tribe. The Prophet (s) belonged to the most noble of them all, the tribe of Quraysh, and within that tribe, the noble tribe of Bani Hashim.

Suicide bombings must be stopped now

http://www.malaysiakini.com/letters/124329

Because the majority of Muslim scholars and leaders continue, with their silence on the issue, to sanction by default the use of suicide to “further the Islamic agenda”, we now begin to see young people making career and life-choices tantamount to the suicide of their own souls.Continue reading “Suicide bombings must be stopped now”

Blasphemy Most Foul

Media Statement By Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar, President, Muslim Lawyers Association of Malaysia.

At the helm of this muted movement were politicians including their ulamas, political alliances and Muslim intellectuals who all agreed that it is permissible for the use of the word Allah in the Catholic weekly Herald publication.

How Islam and Universalist Humanism clash

The United Nations concept of human rights is unacceptable to Muslims. The points where they clash are numerous, yet Muslims seem afraid to focus on these points, perhaps for fear of upsetting the international “powers that be”. When Abdullah Badawi formulated his “Islam Hadhari”, for example, he carefully avoided all these points in his “Ten Principles”, thereby robbing “Hadhari” of any distinctively Islamic identity. Undoubtedly, he was trying to “sell” Islam to the world in some moderate, essentially emasculated form.Continue reading “How Islam and Universalist Humanism clash”

Reviving the Culture of Idealism

A recent seminar at a local university came to “question time” after detailed presentations of the different tracks available to the participants who were mainly students. This call-for-questions was met with total silence.

Two microphones had been set up, yet not one single student approached these microphones. Furthermore, the session moderator, evidently unskilled in the matter and not knowing what to say, merely moved on to the next agenda item.Continue reading “Reviving the Culture of Idealism”
