There is relief and wisdom in hardship

Recently, I had to undergo epidural lysis procedure as a treatment for my back pain due to prolapsed discs.

The procedure was to help decrease chronic low back pain due to adhesions and scar tissue formation. The physician inserts a catheter into the epidural space in order to access the area of adhesions. This is usually done through the caudal canal, which is located at the base of the spine, via the sacral hiatus (quoting the surgeon’s exact words). The sacral hiatus is a natural opening in the spine near the tailbone. Aided by real-time X-ray imaging, the catheter can be seen on the monitor and directed precisely to the affected nerve root. Once the tip of the catheter is in place, medication can be injected to relieve pain at the source and dissipate the scar tissue.

Malaysiakini commentary : ‘RPK the sailor-man’ riles up ABIM

The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) was recently assaulted by Raja Petra Kamaruddin in his Malaysia Today column “No Holds Barred“. A response is in order, with the expletives he has resorted to not included. At threshold, one should note that Muslims and all civilized people are encouraged to rationally and responsibly discuss issues, and discouraged from using inappropriate language. Melahirkan Kepimpinan Unggul

ASAS PERBINCANGAN

Di dalam era moden ini kita berada di dalam dilema apabila berdepan dengan tugas untuk menyampaikan formula penyelesaian terhadap pelbagai cabaran yang dihadapi masyarakat, dan ini memerlukan pada aspek kepimpinan yang kukuh. Kepimpinan boleh dibentuk dan diperbaiki; serta disuburkan, difahami dan digarap berdasarkan prinsip-prinsip kreatif dan saintifik yang menurut asas Islam (within creative and scientific principles constructed on the foundations of Islam). Prinsip menyuburkan kepimpinan ini adalah melalui bimbingan Al-Qur’an dan cara Rasulullah SAW yang menjadi sumber Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin – Rahmat bagi seluruh alam. Hal ini menyimpulkan prinsip dan contoh kepimpinan sejagat.

KUALA LUMPUR: Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim), one of the most influential Muslim non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country, has embarked on a bold move by picking a totally new line-up of leaders, all graduates below 40 years old.

Ahmad Azam Abdul Rahman, president for eight years, has handed over the mantle to 33-year-old law graduate Yusri Mohamad. The Kelantan-born Yusri, who has a Masters degree in law (LLM) from the prestigious School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, is the son of Mohamad Che Wook, a former Kelantan mufti besar.

Perjuangan Hak Wanita di Mahkamah Syariah

Artikel ini merupakan tulisan yang pernah diterbitkan di akhbar Utusan Malaysia, dan diambil dari sumber arkib  bertarikh 06/11/2000 di sini.

PENTADBIRAN undang-undang syariah di Malaysia berada dalam tumpuan akhir-akhir ini, khususnya apabila timbul beberapa isu hangat yang melibatkan hak-hak wanita.

Selari dengan hal ini, perjuangan memartabatkan kedudukan wanita sebagai pemangkin kemajuan negara menjadi semakin matang dengan wujudnya isu-isu sebegini dan beberapa isu lain. Namun begitu, perspektif terhadap kredibiliti institusi Mahkamah Syariah menjadi agak negatif akhir-akhir ini apabila berlakunya jumlah kes-kes yang tertangguh, ditambah pula dengan kewujudan rasa tidak puas hati di kalangan mereka yang mengharapkan keadilan cepat dan tegas daripada institusi ini.
