There are too many avowed Muslims resisting or even attacking the sincere efforts of uniting the people. As anticipated, following the HIMPUN event, a firestorm of press briefly flared, with the usual hate mongers jumping on the bandwagon, including among Muslims, and demonizing the organizers as religious extremists. Kashmir Black Day, the annual commemoration of the landing of Indian security forces in Srinagar on Oct. 27, 1947, is observed every year to highlight the plight of Kashmiris caused by India’s deployment of 700,000 troops in the valley. Everyone agrees that a universal ethical ideal is harmony among peoples, especially those who are committed to their respective religion. And yet, some people, in particular after 9/11, now mistrust all “organized religion” as being troublesome on this harmony issue. Pertubuhan-pertubuhan Islam yang bergabung di bawah PEMBELA ingin menzahirkan sokongan terhadap tindakan Pasukan Penguatkuasaan JAIS melakukan pemeriksaan ke atas premis Dream Centre yang dimiliki Damansara Utama Methodist Church pada 3 Ogos 2011. Penganjuran “Thanksgiving Dinner” di dewan tersebut dengan melibatkan orang-orang Islam pada waktu berbuka puasa di bulan mulia Ramadhan menimbulkan pelbagai persoalan dan mendedahkan penganut agama Islam kepada upacara keagamaan bukan Islam di tempat bukan Islam.
